How To Start the New Year Off Right

The New Year, while celebrated as a way to usher in a new year, is also often looked at as new beginnings or a chance to begin again. Everywhere we turn, we are surrounded by optimism and joy as people share their New Year’s resolutions. It’s inescapable. We are filled with so much excitement and sudden vigor to accomplish the goals we have set for ourselves months ago or sometimes years ago and we go into the new year with a positive mindset. Vision boards are created as a visual aide and we say our daily mantras with such enthusiasm and hope. It is a wonderful feeling.

I love the new year for those very reasons. It’s like when January comes, I am hit with a burst of energy and ready to take on the world. This year, I have some tools that I believe will help me continue on my path of successfully achieving my New Year’s resolutions.

Vision Board

This year, I decided to keep my 2018 vision board and use it for 2019 because my goals are still the same. It’s not that I didn’t complete many of those goals because I am proud to say I did, but I want to continue to grow and expand those said goals.

Daily Planner

As a writer, I HAVE to write everything down. It keeps me afloat because I have a million things that creep into my mind, whether its blog post ideas or tasks I have to do. If I don’t write it down, I may not remember them again. I was gifted with a daily planner from Bloom and I love it because not only can I write down my daily tasks, I can also track my goals with their goal tracker and mini vision board.

The Power of Vision Book

The Power of Vision is a book by Dr. Myles Munroe and it’s an exceptional read for visionaries or people looking to find or fulfill their vision/purpose. It focuses on how to achieve your purpose, things that can hinder you from achieving your purpose and the greatness in living in your purpose. I highly recommend this book all year round, but it is a great read that will have you fired up for 2019 (or any year for that matter.)

Meditation

Last but not least, I recently wrote an article for XO Necole titled 5 Essential Apps that will Help You Keep Up with your Resolutions. One of the apps I included was 10% Happier, which is a meditation app. They have courses you can take on meditation that is taught by world renowned teachers or you can just simply meditate with their array of categories. Right now they have a meditation challenge going on to help you get into the habit of meditating for the new year.
