Beauty Trends of Today that Were a Joke in the 90s

Have you ever thought about how some of the today's beauty trends were considered a joke in the 90s? If you're like me, who loves to watch 90s sitcoms like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Martin, then you may know which trends I'm talking about. If not, take a peek below.

Weaves/Wigs

Ok, this might be obvious, but seriously, there were so many jokes about women who wore weaves or wigs in the 90s. For example, in Martin, Martin Payne would always make rude, yet hilarious comments about Pam's hair saying things like "Ripley’s Be-weave it or Not" or "Nappy Longstocking."

Now, wearing weaves have become so normalized in today's society and it's a booming business. More women have also become more open to wigs because of its versatility and the effortless transformation it provides.

Press On Nails

Remember the episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air when Will was dating Tisha Campbell's character and they got stuck in the basement during an earthquake? When Will complained about not being able to open a container for her, she took off her press on nails and gave them to him for assistance and he made a disgusted face and dropped the nails on the floor. Before that particular scene, Will was sitting with her ponytail on his face rapping "I'm stuck in a basement sitting on a tricycle girl getting on my nerves. Going out of my mind I thought she was fine don't know if her body is hers."

Nowadays, more women are turning to press on nails for a more inexpensive way to rock nice looking nails. You can even get them customized and get multiple uses out of them.

These are just some of the trends I've noticed, but if you know of any more, drop them in the comments below!
